Skip button for Series Intros in Emby
Emby introduced an extremely useful feature called Intro Skip, which allows users to quickly skip the introductory segments of series episodes and movies, to get faster to the main content.
How the Skip Intro feature works
Detecting intro segments
Emby automatically analyzes episodes in your library to identify intervals containing intros. The process runs in the background and can be scheduled to run periodically or manually by the administrator.
Marking intro segments
After detection, each episode will have intro intervals marked, so the player knows exactly when the intro starts and ends.
Client-level configuration options
Users can decide how Skip Intro works:
- Ignore intro - the button is not displayed
- Skip intro manually - the button appears on the player interface, and the user can manually skip
- Skip intro automatically - the intro is automatically skipped at the beginning of the episode, without intervention
Using the Skip Intro button
When the feature is active, at the beginning of episode or movie playback a visible button will appear on the right side of the player:
Pressing Skip Intro, the player will instantly skip the intro and start the episode action directly.
How to activate Skip Intro automatically
On PC
- Enter Emby and click the settings button in the top right corner:
- Select App Settings:
- Go to the Playback section, scroll to Advanced and find Intro skip mode:
- Activate the Automatically skip intros option. This way, all episode intros will be skipped instantly
On Phones
- Enter the Emby application on your phone and open settings (button in the top right corner):
- Go to Playback, scroll down to Advanced and find Intro skip mode:
- Select Automatically skip intros for all intros to be automatically skipped

Important note
The Skip Intro feature is available on the server starting September 15, 2025. Processing all episodes may take 2-3 days or more, depending on the number of series and episodes in your library.
The Skip Intro feature can be used together with the Auto Play Next Episode option, for a smooth consecutive viewing experience of multiple episodes.
