How to download subtitles in Emby
This detailed guide helps you download subtitles for movies or series in Emby, when they don't already exist in the player. Follow the steps below carefully to ensure the downloaded subtitle is correctly synchronized with the movie.
1. Go to the desired movie or series
The first step is to access from your library the movie or episode for which you don't have available subtitles.
After you're on the movie page, click on the button with 3 lines (context menu) and select the Edit Subtitles option.
2. Search for subtitles
After clicking Edit Subtitles, a new window will open. In this window you'll see the Search for subtitles option.
Steps to follow in this window:
- Choose the language of subtitles you want to download
- Click the Search button to start searching for subtitles online
- Check the subtitle - it must match the movie name displayed above and the format/release of the video file (ex: BluRay, WEB-DL, HDTV, CAM etc.)
- Click the Download button to download the selected subtitle
Note: in the image above, you can see an example of incorrect association - the subtitle release doesn't match the movie release. In such a situation, the subtitle won't be correctly synchronized.
3. Example of correct subtitle

In this case, the subtitle is good because the name and release of the subtitle match those of the movie at the top of the page. This is the type of association you should always look for.
4. What to do if you don't find the right subtitle
If you don't find the correct subtitle for the movie or series:
- You can try downloading multiple subtitles from the list and testing them manually to see which is correctly synchronized
- If none of the displayed subtitles are good, you need to make an issue request on the site: requests.adelin.org

5. Useful tips
- Always choose subtitles that have the same release as the video file (BluRay, WEBRip, DVDRip etc.)
- If you don't know exactly which subtitle is correct, download multiple and test them
- Sometimes subtitles found online aren't perfect, which is why requesting to the server is the correct long-term solution
- A synchronized subtitle will give you a much better viewing experience
